Based on the work "Jack Pine" by Tom Tompson. This reference has always been my favorite artwork and the image of the tree in that painting seems to haunt me. I created this work out of a reverence for Tom and the large Group of Seven Canadian painters, but also out of my own need to put the work in my own context.
